The fields of sage and thick stands of Aspen trees on Brush Mountain are home to several herds of Elk and Mule Deer. Our resident elk herd of 600 to 800 head give us a wealth of opportunities for hunting.

Whispering Pine Lodge is at an elevation of 7,400 feet, with the top of Brush Mountain at 10,100 feet. Most hunting on the ranch is done between 8,000 and 9,000 feet. A full service hunt consists of lodging, home cooked meals, and transportation in the field. We can even pick you up at the Hayden Airport should you require it. We provide one guide, with skills in the field for hunting and dressing your game, per two hunters. We limit our hunters to 6-8 per season, so book early.

Whether you are looking for a slow paced hunt on the lower mountain, or a rugged adventure at higher elevations, the lodge will prove to be a comfortable base for your Rocky Mountain Elk Hunt.

ImageArchery and Muzzle Loader Hunting – If you are interested in booking an Archery or Muzzle Loader hunt on Brush Mountain, please feel free to contact Kirsten, and she will help you put together an exciting early autumn hunt on Brush Mountain.

Tips for Archery Hunters: On the ranch, your average shot is between 25 and 30 yards. So we suggest you become proficient for shots at those distances. We also encourage all hunters to prepare physically for work at high altitudes (between 7,000 and 9,500 feet).

Rifle Hunting – The rifle hunt on Brush Mountain is an exhilarating experience. Check out our Fall Photo Gallery to see some of the animals harvested in past seasons. During hunting season, the elk are active and the weather can be brisk. We had a ratio of 99% of our hunters who filled their tags on the mountain in 2009.
